MPS commence field visits to oversee government programs focusing on special categories of citizens

From 17 November to 04 December 2022, the Chamber of Deputies organises the countrywide tour of all Sectors across all Districts with the objective of overseeing programs of the Government of Rwanda responding to the needs of citizens in general and special categories of people including youth, women, people with disabilities and the elderly.

Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Hon. Edda Mukabagwiza said, “During this activity, Members of Parliament will oversee the ongoing implementation of development projects earmarked in the budget of the current fiscal year, 2022/2023. MPs will also assess the implementation of the recommendations addressed to the Government related to issues raised by the citizens during the last outreach activity held in March 2022.”

Members of the Parliament will engage the local leaders by analysing the way they ensure that cultural values are embedded in the implementation of government programs meant for the well-being of the citizens.

Among other activities to be visited by Members of Parliament, include:

– Projects that promote the livelihood of citizens and special groups of people in particular;

– Technical and vocational schools;

– Socio-economic development projects;

– Cooperatives of the youth, women, and people with disabilities.

Furthermore, Deputies will interact with citizens on various socio-economic issues.

They will use the community radios across the districts to reach out to as many people as possible. (End)
