Over 1,200 students participate in second National Annual Writing Competition

Minister of State in charge of Primary and Secondary Education Gaspard Twagirayezu Officiated the closing event of the second National Annual Writing Competition organized by Kigali Public Library and partners in which the best 48 winners were awarded.

About 1,274 students from lower primary and secondary schools participated in the competition, demonstrating their prowess in languages such as Kinyarwanda, French, English, and Sign language as the competition provided a platform to promote inclusive reading and writing practices.

While addressing participants at the closing event of the Annual Writing Competition, Minister of State Gaspard Twagirayezu congratulated the winners, appreciated Kigali Public Library, and other Education stakeholders to actively be involved and engaged in reinforcing reading and creative writing skills.

Launched in 2021, the competition aims to foster a culture of literacy and creativity among the Rwandan youth while raising awareness about key societal issues. 

The 2023 theme focused on raising awareness of mental health, especially in schools and eliminating its associated stigma. (End)
