President Kagame in New York for 74th United Nations General Assembly

Kigali: President Kagame is in New York, USA where he joins other world leaders for the 74th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). On Tuesday, 24 September, the Head of State will take part and deliver remarks at the general debate of the General Assembly themed “Galvanizing multilateral efforts for poverty eradication, quality education, climate action, and inclusion”.

All 193 Member States of the Organization are represented in the General Assembly – one of the six main organs of the UN – to discuss and work together on a wide array of international issues covered by the Charter of the United Nations, such as development, peace, and security, international law, etc.

Every year in September, all the Members meet in this unique forum at Headquarters in New York for the General Assembly session.

Ahead of the General Assembly, President Kagame today chairs the Presidential Advisory Council (PAC), a group of eminent Rwandan and International experts who offer strategic advice and guidance to the Head of State and the Rwandan government at large.

On Monday, 23 September, the President will take part in a High-Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage and deliver remarks at the Opening of the United Nations Climate Action Summit. (End)
