President Kagame met with former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga and exchanged on various issues of regional and continental interest.

“Had an insightful conversation with President Paul Kagame in Kigali, diving into regional and Pan African ideals. We are committed to African unity and solidarity for shared prosperity and progress”, Raila Odinga wrote in a post.

Rails Odinga has expressed interest in becoming the next African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson.

Odinga, who previously served as the AU High Representative for Infrastructure, is mobilizing leaders across the continent and beyond to support his candidature.

The current Chairperson of the AU Commission, Chad’s Moussa Faki Mahamat, is set to finish his two terms in 2025.

The AU Commission Chairperson is elected by the Assembly of Heads of State and Government for a four-year term, renewable once. (End)
