Prime Minister Ngirente in Rubavu for the burial of victims of floods and landslides

Rwanda’s Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente is in Rubavu District, for the burial of victims of floods and landslides in parts of Western, Northern and Southern provinces. 

Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente comforted the bereaved and displaced families, assuring them of Government support.

In response to the recent disaster that hit the Western and Northern Provinces of Rwanda, claiming the lives of 130 people, the Government of Rwanda and its partners have started providing critical aid to those in need. The support is in the form of shelters, food, among other essential supplies.

The initial first aid response provided includes a total of 60 tons of relief supplies (30 tons of maize flour and 30 tons of beans). In addition to these critical food items, basic necessities such as hygiene supplies and kitchen materials have also been provided to those affected.

The Rwandan President Paul Kagame thanks security and armed forces together with civil and other institutions notably among them religious ones for the incredible work they have been doing all around the clock to help manage the disastrous weather effects yesterday. (End)
