The joint committee of National Agricultural Export Development Board and the African Fine Coffees Association met at Kigali Convention Center in the capital city to officially launch the 19th AFCA Conference & Exhibition, which will be held in Kigali, from February 15-17, 2023. Rwanda will host the event for the third time, after hosting it in 2009 and 2019.
Under the theme “Shared Value for Sustainability in the African Coffee Industry,” the African Fine Coffee Conference and Exhibition which comes after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the platform will be an opportunity for Rwanda to showcase its distinctive coffee profiles, known for their specialty quality, and give attendees a taste of the country’s top tourist destinations.
More than 1000 people from around the world are expected to attend this continental event to discuss the sustainability of the African coffee industry while increasing the visibility of the continent’s quality coffees.
Speaking at the launch, Amir Hamza, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of AFCA said: “This post-pandemic forum will assist us in assessing potential threats to the industry caused by global economic meltdown and ongoing conflicts in some of our coffee’s origins and destinations.”
Claude Bizimana, the CEO at NAEB and guest of honor at this confirmed the country’s commitment and capacity to host the 19th AFCA Conference and Exhibition: “We would like to draw your attention to the fact that we have hosted a number of international meetings and events in the past few months, including CHOGM and IACO. The events were colorful.
We believe that with AFCA, the planning and execution of this event will be successful, and I would like to request a lot of commitment, cooperation, and support from all of our partners.” (End).
