Rwanda, UAE sign MoU in the field of Education

This morning, Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vincent Biruta and Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, co-chaired in Kigali the 1st Session of the Joint Committee for Cooperation between Rwanda and the United Arab Emirates(UAE). 

They explored new avenues for cooperation and signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Education. 

“Through this partnership, we aim to bolster educational exchanges, research collaborations, and capacity building, laying down the foundations for a future where our youth can thrive in a globalized world,” Minister Vincent Biruta highlighted in his opening remarks.

Rwanda and UAE enjoy a cordial bilateral relationship and signed several agreements in the past years to increase cooperation in the fields of promotion and protection on investments, avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion, labor cooperation, air transport, exemption from entry visas,  hospitality and tourism. 

Diplomatic relations between Rwanda and the United Arab Emirates were established in 1995. In March 2018, Sheikh Abdalah Bin Zayed, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs opened the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Kigali.  

In June 2018, Mr. Hazza Alqahtani presented his Letters of Credence as the first resident Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Kigali. 

In February 2019, the President of the Republic of Rwanda led a ministerial delegation and attended the World Government Summit 2019 in Dubai. (End)
