Rwanda, Zambia to boost cooperation in different sectors

Earlier today at Urugwiro Village, President Kagame hosted his Zambian counterpart Hichilema and his delegation for a working session on bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the people of Zambia and Rwanda.

They discussed key sectors of partnership including trade, extradition of fugitives of the Genocide against the Tutsi, agriculture production in Zambia on land allocated to Rwanda by the Government of Zambia as well as various opportunities for knowledge exchange between the two countries.

“Both Rwanda and Zambia have a relatively young population that is full of energy and talent. We want to work together with the rest of the continent, as well our partners, to invest in these young people, in order to ensure a more secure, sustainable, and innovative Africa.” Said President Kagame during a joint press conference.

During President Kagame’s visit to Zambia last year, several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed, including agreements on mutual administrative assistance between Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) and Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), cooperation on immigration matters, health, and investment promotion between Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) and Rwanda Development Board (RDB).

President Hichilema said that following President Kagame’s visit to Zambia, his country has already started seeing results, such as an increase in public revenue collection and digitisation of services.

Yesterday evening at Serena Hotel, President Kagame is hosting a State Banquet in honour of his visiting counterpart President Hakainde Hichilema who is in Kigali for a two-day state visit. (End)
