Saudi-African Summit: “We must look forward, and shape the future we want for our people,” -President Kagame

This afternoon in Riyadh, President Kagame joined Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud and other leaders for the inaugural Saudi-African Summit where the President delivered remarks.

“The problems we are facing may seem insurmountable, but there are always solutions to be found and applied. It is a question of mindset. We cannot remain stuck in the past, focused on differences and grievances. We must look forward, and shape the future we want for our people. That is how we really wish to see the invitation to meet here, as an opportunity to collaborate and find solutions, and make the investments required to get results. Time is not on our side, but together, we are much stronger.” President Kagame said.

President Kagame thanked the organisers of the Riyadh Summit. Proximity and cultural ties link Africa and Saudi Arabia.

He thanks Saudi Arabia for having supported Africa to obtain vaccines to fight Covid-19. He appreciated the agreement signed yesterday to support sustainable development goals in Rwanda.

“From this Summit lesson is to speed out the African integration process and engagement with more productive partners like Arab Saudia. So together Saudi Arabia and Africa are stronger”.

The inaugural Saudi-Africa summit aims to enhance political coordination, address regional security threats, promote economic transformation through research and the local development of new energy solutions, and boost investment cooperation. (End)
