Senators to oversee government action in preventing road accidents

From 14 to 22 November 2022, Senators of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Security are on a tour in different Districts to oversee Government’s actions to prevent road accidents.

Murangwa Ndangiza Hadija, the Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Security, highlighted the main purpose of this tour, saying “We are going to monitor road safety, but especially emphasizing on accidents. How do they stand? We  know the Government of Rwanda has done a lot for the safety of road users, but the numbers of road accidents are still high, therefore a deep analysis of the situation is needed.”

During these activities, the Committee will reach up to twelve (12) districts and one (1) sector in each district, during which Senators will visit a number of infrastructure such as Centres of Vehicle inspections among others. They will discuss with various leaders of transport companies and cooperatives, and the ones of driving schools, as well as with citizens in different areas. They will also meet with passengers in different bus parking areas across the country.

After the field visits, it is expected that Senators of the Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Security Committee of the Senate will interact with representatives of the strategic institutions in charge of the prevention and control of road accidents at the national level. (End).
