The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on East African Trade

An interesting report will be launched tomorrow Wednesday on impact of the pandemic on economies of East African countries: The report is entitled: “Waving or Drowning? The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on East African Trade”.

This Report will be launched virtually on 17th February 2021 from 13.00 hours to 15.30 hours (Kigali Time), in the presence of trade ministers, officials and experts from the EAC, researchers and members of civil society across Africa.

The report by UNECA in partnership with TradeMark East Africa (TMEA), wand African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), provides data and sheds light on policy questions on the COVID-19 pandemic’s impacts on trade and commerce in the EAC area. This was done in a bid to support policymakers in generating evidence-base for making informed decisions that can shape policy discourse and implementation. (End)
