Deputy Police Chief Ujeneza receives delegation from Benin

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza, received a delegation from Benin at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru.

The delegation headed by the Director for Planning, Administration and Finance in the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport of Benin Republic, Hermann S. Djedou, is in the country for a week-long visit to learn from Rwanda’s road traffic management.

DIGP Ujeneza said that Rwanda and Benin Police forces enjoy good bilateral relations on crucial matters of policing and road safety in particular.

Road safety, she said, is among the primary responsibilities of the RNP to prevent accidents and loss of lives.

“The collaboration between our two nations not only strengthens our bilateral relations but also amplifies the potential for positive change,” DIGP Ujeneza said.

Through a presentation, the delegation was explained on the road management structures, including the departments of Traffic and Road Safety, Testing and Licensing, Automobile Inspection as well as the introduced hi-tech services such as traffic enforcement cameras, mechanic inspection and issuance of driver’s permit, among others.

On his part, Djedou said that the discussions and exchange of experiences enriched their understanding of effective road safety strategies. 

“We are confident that the lessons gained here will be instrumental in improving road safety measures in Benin,” Djedou said.

He added: “Your commitment and dedication to promoting road safety are truly commendable. We were particularly impressed by the comprehensive technological approach and initiatives implemented by the Rwanda National Police in this field.”

“Information and best practices shared during the meeting will not go to waste. The knowledge gained will be utilized to enhance road safety measures in Benin, with the aim of safeguarding the lives and well-being of our citizens”, he emphasized.”

The delegation will also visit the departments of Automobile Inspection, Traffic and Road Safety, and Testing and Licensing.(End)
