Greece donates 332,800 Covid-19 vaccines to Rwanda

Through military cooperation with Greece, Rwanda received 332,800 doses of Astra Zeneca Covid-19 vaccine from Hellenic Armed Forces. The vaccines will directly be deployed in different districts of Rwanda.

The donation is a sign of the existing good relations between Hellenic Armed Forces and Rwanda Defence Force(RDF). This follows a recent visit to Greece by the RDF Chief of Defence Staff, General Jean Bosco Kazura. The consignment was received at Kigali International Airport by Lt Col Dr. Tharcisse Mpunga, the Rwandan Minister of State in charge of Primary Health Care at the Ministry of Health.

While handing over the vaccines, Lt Col Dr. Tharcisse Mpunga explained that the donation is a result of fruitful cooperation between both countries’ militaries. Lt Col Dr. Tharcisse Mpunga revealed that received doses would be used to increase the number of vaccine recipients in rural areas as the case for Kigali.

The vaccine doses which arrived at Kigali International Airport on 5th November 2021 are an addition to a donation of 200,000 doses Rwanda secured from Greece recently in September. (End)
