Minister Uwamariya virtually attended the Fifth African Regional Science, Technology and Innovation Forum

Today, the Minister of Education Dr. Valentine Uwamariya virtually attended and delivered a keynote address at the Fifth African Regional Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Forum, a two-day hybrid conference taking place in Niamey, in Niamey, Niger from 26 to 27 February 2023.

In her STI Forum keynote address, Minister Valentine Uwamariya said Rwanda has recently developed a National Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) School Education Strategy to provide targeted strategies to improve the quality of teaching and learning in basic education STEM areas.

“This is one of the strategies underpinning key Rwandan Government strategies such as the National Strategy for Transformation which calls upon creating 1,500,000 (214,000 annually) decent and productive jobs”, Dr. Valentine Uwamariya added.  

“For a developing country like Rwanda, increased STEM activities not only enhance meaningful learning but also provide the opportunity for the preparation of graduates who can contribute to solving societal problems & speed up national economic growth & development”, she declared. 

“Rwanda’s Vision 2050 is about ensuring high standards of living for all Rwandans focusing on areas such as quality of life; modern infrastructure & livelihoods and transformation for prosperity. It is supported by powerful belief in Science, Technology & Research”, Minister Valentine Uwamariya emphasized. (End)
