President Kagame and First Lady in Seychelles for a two day State Visit

Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame are in Seychelles for a two day State Visit which will include being Guests to the National Day Celebrations, on June 29, marking Seychelles’ 47 years of Independence.  

They were received today by the President of Seychelles Wavel Ramkalawan and First Lady Linda Ramkalawan at the State House in Victoria, the capital.  

President Kagame and his counterpart Wavel Ramkalawan held a closed door meeting before joining members of both delegations for discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Memoranda of understanding and agreements will be signed during the visit. 

President Kagame also addressed this afternoon an Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly. He said: “As Africa continues to grow, regional integration will only become more and more indispensable. The most serious challenges we face, transcend borders. They can only be tackled by cooperation.”

“Seychelles and Rwanda are driven by a common aspiration to improve the quality of life for all our citizens, working hand-in-hand with partners in the region, and beyond.” President Kagame added in his address. 

This is the second visit of President Kagame to Seychelles, a beautiful archipelago located in the western Indian Ocean. The Rwandan President made a private visit to the island nation in August 2018 during which he held discussions with Danny Faure, the President of Seychelles at the time. (End)
