President Kagame meets his counterpart of Latvia and Bill Gates on UNGA sidelines

Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame held talks with President Edgars Rinkēvičs of Latvia on the sidelines of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

They discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in various sectors, including agriculture, ICT, and investment. In June this year, Rwanda and Latvia signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a political consultation mechanism.

President Kagame joined American philanthropist and investor Bill Gates, Zimbabwean businessman and philanthropist Strive Masiyiwa, and other leaders for a roundtable organized by Gates Foundation to discuss how mRNA vaccine technology can reduce vaccine manufacturing costs.

President Kagame met with Deemah AlYahya, Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO). They exchanged on enabling digital prosperity for all by accelerating the inclusive growth of the digital economy.

President Kagame attended the opening session of the UNGA at the UN headquarters in New York on Tuesday. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres inaugurated the 78th session of the UNGA, on the theme of “Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all.” (End)
