Residents foil attempted house burglary

Kigali: A 53-year old man was arrested in Rwintare village, Gasharu cell of Nyamirambo sector in Nyarugenge District after breaking into a local hardware store.

The suspect was apprehended following credible information provided by the local residents.

“Two men had planned to rob a hardware shop located in Gasharu cell in Nyamirambo. They drilled a hole through which one entered into the shop at about 03a.m, as the other stayed outside,” Superintendent of Police (SP) Sylvestre Twajamahoro, the Police spokesperson for the City of Kigali, said.

Fortune enough, he added, some local residents already had information about their criminal plan, and they worked together with the Police to foil the burglary.

“During the operation, the suspect who has remained outside managed to flee but the one who was inside was apprehended red-handed at the scene after parking some of the items,” said SP Twajamahoro.

The search for his accomplice is still underway.
