Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies from Commonwealth countries in Africa will convene in Rwanda from May 3 to 6, 2022, for their 12th Regional Conference. They will discuss different innovative solutions to fight against corruption.
They will meet under the theme “Combating Corruption for Good Governance and Sustainable Development in Africa”. The four-day conference will discuss and adopt various strategies and resolutions to tackle some of the most significant obstacles against anti-corruption efforts in Africa.
“Corruption is an urgent issue in our continent, one which has an enormous economic impact. Rwanda is thrilled to be hosting this year’s Anti-Corruption Conference, which it considers a valuable opportunity to share Rwanda’s best practices on curbing corruption”, Nirere Madeleine, Rwanda’s Ombudsman, stated.
Organised by the Ombudsman Office in collaboration with the Commonwealth Secretariat, the conference will bring together delegates from 18 countries: Botswana, Cameroon, Eswatini, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.
The heads of Anti-Corruption agencies last met in Uganda for their 9th Regional conference, in which they confirmed Rwanda as the host of the next conference. Due to Covid-19, both 2020 and 2021’s conferences were held virtually by the Commonwealth Secretariat. (End)
