Tanzania Foreign Minister visits Kigali Genocide Memorial

Tanzanian Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, January Makamba, paid his respects to the victims of 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at Kigali Genocide Memorial. 

After laying a wreath at the burial place where 250,000 victims killed during the genocide are laid to rest, Minister January Makamba observed a moment of silence in memory of the innocents slain.

Minister January Makamba and his delegation were led through the different parts of the museum portraying the history of the genocide, from its planning to its execution and consequences. He was also shown the progress that Rwanda has made in rebuilding through unity and reconciliation.

The head of Tanzanian diplomacy is in Rwanda for a four-day visit to strengthen relations between Rwanda and Tanzania. 

Minister January Makamba is accompanied by senior officials from Ministries of Transport; Trade and Industry; ICT; Agriculture; Energy; and from key parastatals. (End)
