Two arrested for stealing from Chinese company

The money was stolen on Wednesday morning from the vehicle by the driver identified as Jean de Dieu Sibomana, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Hamdun Twizeyimana, Police spokesperson for the Northern region, said.

“At about 9am, Sibomana was driving his employer identified as Gu Xin Hua. They stopped at a market in Gacurabwenge Village in Byumba Sector where Xin wanted to buy some groceries. When he moved out, Sibomana picked the money and fled,” CIP Twizeyimana said.

“However, the two suspects in custody chased Sibomana pretending to be helping, but when they caught him, they instead took money from him and also fled with it… basically they also used the trick to also steal from another suspected thief,” he added.

“Residents, who witnessed the incident helped the Police to identify Ngarukuyimana and Thierry Sibomana, who were found with Rwf1 million. Investigations are still underway to locate the prime suspect whom we suspect to have escaped with the remaining missing Rwf1 million,” the spokesperson explained.

The recovered money was later in the day handed back to the owner.

While receiving the money, Xin thanked the Police and the residents for the partnership in response to crime.

“I saw how Police and residents work together to locate and arrest the suspects, and to recover part of the money and I have no doubt my driver, who is behind all this theft saga, will also be traced and arrested and all my money will be recovered,” Xin said through a translator.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson who also thanked the residents for facilitating the police in the arrest of the two suspects and recovery of part of the money, but called for continued cooperation and information sharing on the whereabouts of Sibomana to be apprehended to face justice. (End)
