Young delegates from districts visit different sites from where the liberation war was launched

A group of 86 youth delegates from districts across the country are visiting different sites where Rwanda’s liberation war was launched in October 1990, and these sites are Kagitumba border post, Nyabwishongwezi, Rwentanga, Kanyumba, and Gikoba , etc.

Organisers of the tour started by explaining to them the causes of the war of liberation: before colonization, the colonial period, the 1st and 2nd Republics. The excursion was initiated by the Ministry of Local Administration and the Ministry of Youth and Culture with the aim of providing civic education focusing on facts and known physical sites.

“To understand and know the history of the liberation of Rwanda is to learn from the acts of heroism of Rwandans who showed patriotism and who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the motherland. It is also a way to illustrate in a tangible way the Rwandan values of patriotism, and to be able to imbibe them to better live them and transmit them to others”, indicated the responsible for civic education, Richard Kubana. (End)
